SkinTrack Turns Your Skin Into Touch Interface For Smartwatches.

A research team at the Future Interfaces Group, a Carnegie Mellon University research lab came up with the solution for annoying small touch intergaces of smartwatches by turning your skin into touch intergaces for smartwatches.

The system works by using a signal-emitting ring worn on the finger of your opposite (non-watch) hand and a sensing band attached to the smartwatch. When the finger on the ring hand touches the skin, it sends a high-frequency signal that spans the width (and length) of your arm.  From there, the sensor just calculates the distances between itself and the finger with the ring.
It’s also capable of continuous tracking, thus providing the ability to add gesture-based control, as well as the ability to sign your name to a document, or even create hot key commands. Trace an “E” on your skin, for example, and it could potentially open your email inbox.
Additionally, you’re no longer just limited to the touchscreen of your watch to control apps. SkinTrack allows you to drag apps off the watch and on to your arm for creating a sort of shortcut menu up and down your arm.

Unfortunately there are no plans to make this tech available to consumers or manufacturers anytime soon but it could help new  watch manufacturers with further improvement how we interact with our smart devices.

Storage Guide : How To Make Some Free Space On Your Device!

We here at TechDekh recommend people to buy phones with inbuilt storage only; we don’t recommend people to buy phones with expandable storage. People often ask us how they should make some space on their phones; well here is the solution for it.

Step 1: Delete WhatsApp Message Database

WhatsApp automatically creates back-up of messages every day and stores it on internal memory. The size of this backup depends on the messages you have on WhatsApp. We recommend to clear chats, group chats and delete unwanted images and videos from gallery.
For deleting WhatsApp messages database:
Android Users: Go to File Manager (ANY) -> WhatsApp Folder -> Database and delete everything in that folder.
If you need WhatsApp chat backup then store it on Google Drive rather than storing it on your phone’s memory
iPhone Users:  iPhone stores database directly on iCloud so there is no need to manually delete anything from phone, well you can choose whether to take backup of your data on cloud.
This can free up a lot of space on your device.

Step 2: Disabling Applications

Every phone has lot of inbuilt applications and most of them are useless but still it occupies a lot of storage. To make up some free space:
Android Users: Go to Settings -> Apps -> All Apps -> Select application you want to disable -> Clear cache then Force Stop it, then touch on uninstall updates and disable it. (You can enable it anytime you want from the list of disabled applications for that go to Settings -> Apps -> Disabled Apps and click on the application you want to enable)
Warning: Never disable android system applications, Google play store and Google Play Services. Disable inbuilt applications at your own risk!
iPhone Users : There is no specific way to disable system applications in iPhone but you can hide it in a folder.

Step 3: Clear Cache memory

To clear cache memory from your phone,
Android Users: Go to settings -> Storage -> Cached data -> clear data
iPhone Users: Press Home Button twice to open multi-tasking view and close the applications which you are not using, it will auto clear cache data of that application.
Clearing cache data is safe and it will certainly clear some space on your device.

Step 4: Use Cloud storage

Rather than saving photos and videos on your phone, it is always safe to move them on cloud storage. You can do that by using various applications like Google Drive, iCloud, dropbox, etc. You can access the photos anytime you want even if you lost your device, which will surely help you to make a lot of space on your device.

Step 5: Uninstall Applications

Uninstalling applications will clear lot of memory but there is a way to do it :
Android Users : Settings -> Apps -> Select the app you want to uninstall for example UC Browser -> clear data first then force stop the application, after that uninstall the application.
After uninstalling it, go to file manager and search for the folder created by that application here in this case it will be UC Downloads and delete the folder. (If the folder contains any important data then move it to another folder before deleting it.)
iPhone Users: Uninstall applications from settings is recommended.
Always remember to reboot the phone after uninstalling applications or clearing cache data for smooth performance of the phone.

Step 6: Factory Data Reset

This is the most effective way to wipe out complete data from your phone. If you are tired of notification saying “Your System space is running low” then resetting your phone will help you.
Android Users: Go to Setting -> Backup & reset ->Factory Data Reset
iPhone Users: It is recommended to factory reset your iPhone from iTunes.
Always remember to back up your contacts and important data from your phone before proceeding to reset your phone.

There are lots of low space applications in Apple Appstore & Google Play Store like Facebook Lite (Facebook original application >200 MB; Facebook Lite ~650 KB) using these applications will help you clear lot of memory on your device but you need to compromise with the quality! If you love to keep lot of media on your phone or you love to play high graphic games or use heavy applications on your phone then 16 GB Internal storage phone are NOT made for you. We recommend to buy more than 32 GB internal memory phones for avoiding low system space problems.
If your phone supports external memory card then keep all your media on external memory. Media from WhatsApp and Facebook is saved on internal memory, you need to manually move it to external SD card. For moving application data to memory card install Apps2SD application from Google Play Store which will move data to SD card for you.

If you have any other suggestion about storage problems or you want to ask us any problem related to your phone then comment it down below!

Researchers Fool Smartphone Fingerprint Sensors Using Inkjet Printer.

Researchers, Kai Cao and Anil K. Jain at Michigan State University have found a way to unlock a smartphone protected by a fingerprint, by using an inkjet printer. They used a special conductive ink and paper made by a company called AgIC. To unlock the smartphone the fingerprint of the user has to be scanned at a resolution of 300dpi or higher. Before printing, the image of the scanned fingerprint needs to be reversed.

The researchers used Samsung Galaxy S6 and Huawei Honor 7 smartphones for testing, and managed to unlock both of them by using this technique. As per statement of Kai Cao and Anil Jain, "Honor 7 was slightly more difficult to hack than the Galaxy S6".
How these reseachers managed to fool smartphone fingerprint? Watch in this video.

4-Inch iPhone Is Back!

After 4.7 inch displays, Apple is back to its best size of 4-inch display this year. The new iPhone "5se" (SE stands for special edition) is rumored to launch on 18th of March with all new iPad-Air 3 and iOS 9.3.
The new iPhone 5se will have all new Apple pay support. It will come with A9 chip, touch ID. The iPhone 5se is said to use the same 8-megapixel rear camera which is found in the iPhone 6, along with a 1.2-megapixel front facing camera. Its rumored to include improved auto-focusing, support for larger panoramas and ability to capture live photos the one beloved feature of iPhone 6S. The device will come with 1GB of RAM and it will be available in 16 GB and 64 GB memory variant.
The new 5se is rumored to have curved edges like iPhone 6 and it will be available in the colors same as iPhone 6S that is Rose gold, Space grey, Silver and Golden with metal body.

In More Detail

Design

According to Japanese site Mac Otakara, the iPhone 5S and 5se will be very similar to design and size that they can share accessories & cases. The body of the iPhone 5se is said to be similar in size and design to the iPhone 5S, but its display may be closer in design to the iPhone 6. The iPhone 6 and 6S feature a display made of a slightly curved 2.5D glass that's designed to flow seamlessly into the body of the device. Despite all the rumors that suggest the iPhone 5se will look much like the iPhone 5S, there are still some unanswered questions about the final design and just how similar the two devices will be to one another.

Processor

The A9 chip was a huge step up over the A8 chip used in the iPhone 6, and will offer even greater performance improvements over the A7 chip in the iPhone 5S. It is 70 percent faster at CPU tasks and 90 percent faster at GPU tasks than the A8, which was already an impressive chip.
The A9 includes a built-in M9 motion co-processor, which will allow the iPhone 5se to use the always-on "Hey Siri" feature. In A9 devices, "Hey Siri" can be used at any time to activate Siri by voice for hands-free operation. In older iPhones where the motion co-processor was a separate chip, "Hey Siri" was only available when the iPhone was plugged into power. The M9 motion co-processor is also able to measure walking and running pace in addition to steps, distance, and elevation changes.

Camera
The iPhone 5se will continue to use an 8-megapixel rear camera instead of the 12-megapixel camera introduced with the iPhone 6S, but it is said to be the same camera that's in the iPhone 6.

With the iPhone 6, Apple added new features to significantly improve picture quality, including faster auto-focus and improved image stabilization. As a result, the iPhone 6 is able to capture better photos than the iPhone 5S, especially in low light conditions.
It is still unclear about the other features of iPhone 5se. Lets wait for its release date that is 18th of March.

How To Waterproof an iPhone Or Android Device?

Nothing kills your smart-phone faster than water or liquid. Here is the solution to make your iPhone or Android device waterproof. This can be achieved by using the Impervious waterproofing kit. This liquid spray can be applied to exterior as well as inside parts of your smart-phone. This full waterproofing kit costs around $50.
Following video explains the procedure to make your device waterproof. We suggest you, if you are not familiar with disassembling and reassembling your device then do not follow this procedure otherwise you might end up with destroying your smartphone.

Alternatively if you don't feel like doing this job by yourself, you can send your smart-phone to a company like Liquipel to be waterproofed. This treatment costs between $70 and $90. Plus you have to ship your device to company for treatment. Be aware that any internal coating will void any warranty your manufacturer will offer and these coating aren't 100 percent guaranteed.

Li-Fi : Will It Be Great Alternative To WiFi?

Li-Fi, a super-fast alternative to Wi-Fi is finally getting in real world with its massive speed. It can provide upto 1 Gbps, which is 100 times faster than current Wi-Fi. So one can download a full HD movie within few seconds.

What is Li-Fi?

Light Fidelity or Li-Fi is a wireless technology allows data to be sent at high speed using visible light communication (VLC). It uses IEEE standard 802.11 a/e for its wireless communication.

Li-Fi allows user great security on local networks as light can not pass through walls provides less interference between devices. The technology offers great speed of 224 Gbps in perfect Lab conditions. Li-Fi could be much more cheaper than Wi-Fi.

Disadvantages:

  • As the system uses light spectrum to send and receive data, the range of the system is very limited as light can not pass through walls.
  • The reflected light from walls can downgrade the performance of this system which can affect its reliability.
The inventor of Li-Fi, Professor Harald Hass from university of Edinburgh, has claimed that in the future every LED light bulb could be used as ultra-fast alternative to Wi-Fi. Hass said, "In the future we will not only have 14 billion light bulbs, we may have 14 billion Li-Fis deployed worldwide for a cleaner, greener and more bright future."  It is difficult to create a whole new infrastructure for Li-Fi so it will be a challenge to integrate current systems to make it compatible with Li-Fi.
